WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

This course introduces the essential workplace health and safety principles required for the design and installation of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems, alongside the fundamentals of how solar technology works. Learners will gain an understanding of PV system components, how solar cells convert sunlight into electricity, and how modules and arrays are formed, while also learning to identify hazards, assess risks, and apply effective safety procedures to ensure safe and compliant work practices.

Commonly produced by photovoltaic (PV) systems, DC electricity is essential to many modern energy applications. This course introduces the fundamentals of DC electricity, explains how series and parallel circuits work, and highlights key safety considerations when working with DC systems.

This course introduces the fundamentals of AC electricity, how the electricity grid operates, and how DC power from PV systems is converted to AC for grid connection, including key grid interaction considerations.

This course covers the role of inverters in PV systems, explaining how DC power is converted to grid-compatible AC electricity. Learners will gain an understanding of inverter types, key specifications, protection requirements, and performance monitoring features.
